Default win r at boot ???

Hi All,

Google is no help here.

A customer told me she did a Win R at boot
to get into safe mode.

Usually these things are just poor descriptions
on the customer's part. Did I miss something?

Many thanks,

It's up to YOU to get more details from YOUR customer who is hiring you
(free or paid) to be their technical support staff. We don't deal with
your customer so our guesses what your customer meant to say or what
they actually did would be unknown to us since we cannot query your
customer.

Why are YOU acting this way?

What the customer showed me and what she described the issue as
were not the same thing. That is why I ask my customers to
show me what was wrong. This is very, very common and
expected. This is why I try not to speculate on how
to fix a problem before I arrive on site. 95% of
the time it is something different.

A chiropractor customer of mine had a good laugh with me
about such. She tells her patients to "point" at what
hurts and 95% of the time it isn't the body part they
described. And "no", she doesn't make fun of them
either.

And what would you have me do, tell the person that is putting
a roof over my family's head and food on my family's table
that she was an idiot? I respect and appreciate my customers.

How much are you offering to solve your customer's problem? You're
getting paid. Why should people do your job for free?

I've wondered about that for a long time. T(odd)'s customers have all
these weird problems he can't solve, he comes here to Usenet and gets
answers, then gets paid for fixing the customers' computers.

AFAIK, he has never offered to share any of the profits.

The reason for the weird problems is that I never get called for
the ones they can fix for themselves.

And I do help others and post tips on this group as a way of
saying thanks for all the help. I freely share my knowledge.

I have not seen any of your posts that are helpful; All I see is that
you are always complaining about Windows systems and yet you keep
conning your customers by pretending you know something about Microsoft
products. The fact of the matter is you are a Rogue Trader and sooner
your customers know about this the better it will be for the mankind.

You invented the word "Frankenstein" applied to the Windows system.

Why are you defrauding innocent customers? You are giving a bad name to
experts who are really helping people out there. People like you should
be locked up.

Apparently helping others doesn't count -- only you.

Actually, no it isn't. You are the only one who ends up with cash in your
pocket.

So all the free consulting I give away here does not count?

The time I spend helping others on these parts FOR FREE, comes
directly out of my bottle line. It is called "non-billable
hours". It costs me a bunch of money. I do it because
other also help me and it is the right thing to do.

Maybe all the folks that have ever helped you on this group
should all count up the hours they spent on you and send
you a bill?

I rarely see T(odd) actually /giving/ advice. His rare "Tips" are just
copy/paste from some web page somewhere.

Doing your job for you isn't the right thing. Helping you keeps you
taking money and credit other people deserve.

Maybe all the folks that have ever helped you on this group should all
count up the hours they spent on you and send you a bill?

No. You, T(odd), are the only one who "sends a bill" after receiving
advice here.

Why? Doesn't seem like anyone else is using this group for commercial
gains.

He's the only one who says, "My *customer* has this problem I can't
solve..." So yeah, you're right.
