disappeared so i'm reposting cos i'm back to square one.
post from 13th july (simplified)

i'm using linksys router which connects to the internet
thru a non-UPnP symmetric NAT admistrator and i'm not
able to do voice at all on both windows/msn messenger it
says dis on my fren's comp when either one try to invite
for voice the network or computer you are trying to
reach is experiencing a problem please try again later
i've turned off my firewall .. task barpersonal
firewall disable .. what else amd i not doing right?

jonathan said to open router configuration and enable
UPnP can't remember exactly what else but anyway i called
up my cable company they seem ignorant of the UPnP and in
frustration the technician opened up all the ports on my
line he said it's still not too accessable to hackers cos
i'm using wireless so yes i was able to voice over msn
messenger but not windows messenger which was fine with
me then the next day my fren clicked on the whiteboard
button to invite me while we were conversing on msn
messenger and it knocked me off msn & when i reboot &
relog on i was back to square one with that every
irritaing the network or computer you are trying to
reach is experiencing a problem please try again later
so jonathan plzzzzzzzzzz get me back on msn voice again i
only managed to enjoy it for half a day what happened
with that white board invite? i've checked all my ports
are still open. is the router configuration for UPnP supp

If you have a Linksys router it is a blue box connected between your PC and
your Modem (normally a black box)
Read the Linksys instructions for setting up your router from your PC and
make the change to enable UPNP.
Since you have not specified the Linksys model number and firmware revision
level there is not much else I can suggest.

forgive my ignorance is the modem the router ? cos i can
only see the modem no idea where's the router or is that
black box the router ? there's no buttons nor nothing on
it just cables coming out of it.

thx striker i went to the linksys page and found a
troubleshooting page that gave a short term solution to
the voice problem with msn messenger all i did was just
go to 'remove windows component'and check the uPNP and i
was able to do voice so i closed back all my ports during
the convo i was still voicing we were rejoicing but not
for long cos next morning when i woke up & click on voice
again i was back to sq. 1 the uPNP button's still checked
what i can't understand is why do i seem to be able to
just voice once & next round it just won't work i even
tried opening all the ports + uPNP checked & it still
won't work linksys did say there's a bug with uPNP &
NAT & they r looking for a solution there solution
doesn't work at all with windows messenger at all just
single shot luck with msn messenger that's all .. more
suggestions striker ?

Go to the Linksys Web site and download the user guide

for Linksys Gateway
WCG 200. Since I have always used a regular router and

not a gateway I do
not know what UPNP or direct port forwarding options the

gateway has.
