Default What the hell is with this..... ( changing drive letters)

On my laptop which I discussed in other threads on here, which I just
cloned and upgraded the hard drive from 40gb to 160gb.

Anyhow, I was discussing changing the drive letters so I had C: and D:
partitions and E: as my CD drive. That worked fine.
I decided to set the CD drive to O:.

This comp has 2 logins. ADMINISTRATOR and MY NAME.
I found that I can change the CD drive letter to E: F: G: H: or I: with
no problem. But if I change it to J: K: ...... or O:, it will not show
up under the login with my name, only under admin. WHAT THE HELL???

I tried changing it from both logins, I tried it with and without a CD
inserted. This makes no sense at all to me.....

Rebooting after the change dont matter either....

I recalled that from way back, the autoexec.bat file contained a
LASTDRIVE statement, so I went to the root of C: and opened autoexec.bat
in a text editor and it contains NOTHING. It's blank. (XP created it
that way, I have never even opened it till now).

I just put the CD drive back to E: for now, but this surely makes no
sense to me at all.....

I rarely ever use the ADMINISTRATOR login, since I have the one with my
name setup to my liking. (Personally, I never needed two logins, since I
am the only user, but that again was required during the install of XP).
I just accept it as it is. But this disappering CD drive letter in the
MY NAME login makes no sense at all....

Sometimes I think that MS does **** like this just to annoy us.....

Dunno for sure but my XP has no problem with L:, M:,,N: or O:. It
happens if I plug in a card reader. I do have a native K: tho. Maybe
it just will not let you have that many blanks.
Back in the olden days there were no blanks at all except, B:
They may have just given you a huss on 4.
