Wow, I thought the internet was slow on dialup BEFORE today
It looks like this Cyber Monday is taking it's toll. I have never had it
run so slow. Just to open a message on the newsgroups is taking a minute or more. If I recall, other years, parts of the internet completely crash on this day. I wonder how much of it will go down today??? If this slowness is any indication, we may all be without a working internet by the end of the day.... |

To counteract the negative vibes coming from your posting... ******* The global index right now, is 94%. http://www.internettrafficreport.com/ That doesn't mean anything particularly, except to make the point that "one observation doesn't tell the whole story". That web site doesn't tell the whole story either. ******* It's more likely to be a local problem with your ISP or something. Does your ISP have a network status page ? Sometimes those hint at trouble. HTH, Paul |

Sometimes those hint at trouble. HTH, Paul No webpage for my ISP, other than just advertising for their phone service. It does seem that things improved since earlier in the day. It was very slow last night as well as this morning. I even reconnected several times to see if I got a better connection. I often wonder if anyone checks the server at my ISP on weekends? I have my doubts. The dialup is provided to phone customers with no support, and I often think they dont check it often especially on the weekends when they are closed. It's lousy service either way. But it could be overloaded too, Meaning the whole internet.... I dont do Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I buy stuff when I need it, not because someone decides to have a so called "sale". And I dont celebrate the commercial part of Christmas either. Anyhow, I'll watch the evening news today to see if Google or some other large part of the internet crashed from the overload.... No matter how much gear they connect up, too much usage will cause an outage. |
