Glary SoftwareUpdate.exe
Love Glary Utilities. but, at boot on my Win XP Pro laptop I get an error message regarding softwareupdate.exe. Anyone know why ? How to stop it trying ? I do not see it in msconfig. |

But that's probably not from Glary. I downloaded the free version of the Glary standalone for that, and the file name i could find in the package is Software Update.exe There's a space in the name. There are other software products that go by that name (the no-space-character version). And Ben is basically reminding you, that in some cases, the removed thing is malware, and your AV removed it, but didn't remove startup entries or registry entries or something. Some people think they are getting an Adobe Flash update from the web, when in fact it's malware, and goes by a name like that. It's possible Apple iTunes has a SoftwareUpdate, but that's just a wild guess on my part. Google has an updater, but I think it might be called GoogleUpdate or similar. I used 7ZIP to examine the files inside the installer (susetup.exe) in this case. ******* You can try Autoruns and have a look through the master list. I don't see a limitation listed for the OS this works on, so maybe this version still works on WinXP.
