Default Please help!! I need some help!

I did the exact same thing. It took me litterally weeks
of late nights tinkering around with Dos Commands. I
can't even remember exactly how I restored it, but I
believe I had to rewrite various portions of the
registry. If I had the chance to pay $35 to get out of
that mess, it would have been a bargin! You might try
attaching a second moniter if you are running XP Pro, I
was able to at least get to the command prompt that way.
Good luck.

Hi,

Can you get your hands on another HD? If so, you can
install it as Master, jumper your previous HD as Slave,
install WinXP on the new HD and copy all the data files
from the old HD to the new one. Then scan the old HD to
check for errors and use it as file back up storage

device.
Good luck.

Okay, here goes...
Windows XP wasn't acting right, I couldn't add some
hardware, couldn't play media or games correctly, and I
couldn't change many features on XP. So I decided to

pop
in the XP installation disk and see if I could do some
kind of "repair installation" (kind of like

reinstalling
XP but keeping everything on my hard drive). I couldn't
find such a feature so I choose to install it again

using
the "Upgrade" option.
That was a big mistake.
Setup then went through it's little installation ritual
and then restarted my unit, but it didn't reboot
successfully and automatically shutdown. Now whenever I
try to boot up, the computer pauses, then shows me the
startup screen (ya' know, the one with "Safe Mode"
and "Last Known Good Config"?). Whenever I choose any

one
of the options, it trys to go further but then it just
freezes and restarts. I have already tried to repair my
handywork by booting from the XP cd and repairing the
Windows partition. That hasn't worked.

Please, I need help! (And I'm not yet willing to drop

$35
for Windows Tech Support) If someone knows anything

that
could get me anywhere, please post it!
Thanks a bunch!

Sincerely,
(a very distraught) Novice
.
