Default Upgraded Machine Won't Boot From Old Hard Drive

I just built a new computer using a Biostar M7NCD
mainboard, AMD Athlon XP2500+ processor and 512 mb of
Ultra 333 memory. I took a nearly new WD 20GB HD, loaded
with Windows XP Home set up with NTFS, from my old 333
machine and installed it in the new computer.

The drive was working fine in the old machine, but now
when I try to boot the new machine with the old drive I
get a error message saying windows has shut down my
system to avoid possible damage. I have tried to reboot
in safe mode, normal mode and last know good
configuration and it still will give me the error message.

The new bios recognizes all the drives I have installed
and I can boot the machine from the A drive using an old
Windows ME Start Up disk or from my master CD-RW drive,
HOWEVER, I cannot get it to boot from the HD.

Any body got any ideas on how to start getting this
problem straightened out, short of re-installing XP, or
worse?

Thanks!

You have to do a repair install because none of the mobo
drivers from the old mobo will work with the new system.
Google for "Windows XP repair" and you'll get the
instructions.
