In article , Justin writes I hope their computers are better than their crap mobiles. Mike I guess that's why Apple is leading in sales. The public enjoys buying lousy things with their hard earned money. I think you'll find that it's simple minded people who have bought into the product hype. I can't comment on their computers, hence my comment, as I have never bought one of their over priced offerings but my sons have at times fallen for the mobile phone hype and they hated them. I think the Samsung advert I saw on YouTube sums Apple phones up perfectly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf5-Prx19ZM Mike FWIW - an added advantage to the clip was that when it ended, the thumbnails of other clips showed a rather spectacular cleavage (on my screen at this time - no promises). -- Gene E. Things are going very well and I do like Windows 8 in most respects. One problem I've been stumbling over is that if I go away and let this new computer drop into sleep mode it won't start back up when I move the mouse or click some keyboard keys. I've changed the mouse and keyboard to see if this would make any difference but it did no, in either case. Any suggestions, anyone? Or, where can I find a Windows 8 Newsgroup and look for information there? Thanks, Gordon Get a Mac. w/Cheese! |

Indeed, but how many businesses do you know that survive by selling items at a loss particularly in the retail market Loss leader is a possibility. I saw the numbers for an electronics store in town. The gross profit for a laptop is very low. I expect that they end up losing a bit on them and that they hope to make it up on other items. What legal responsibility? There might be a contract, but not necessarily. In the UK at least when you buy an item there are certain legal rights and responsibilities. And I bet that these rights are far less than what most people think. The reason that companies have support is that they figure that it will help them. It is not a right. Sincerely, Gene Wirchenko |

Apple was a distant second with 14.9 percent of the market." That's global market share. So, where is is again that Apple is leading in sales because the public enjoys buying their stuff? Cupertino California maybe? Apple is good stuff, but costs about twice as much as it competition of similar quality. But that higher price is precisely what attracts the market segment that buys Apple products. Marketers know that there is a significant segment of the market that wants its toys to be overpriced so that the unwashed 47% can't afford to buy them. The higher price testifies to the higher quality of the buyer, obviously. After all, you get what you pay for, right? Not. So, of the "washed 53%", still only 14.9% buy Apple, so still well under 1/3 of the "washed" market share!! Daniel |

Certainly the UK Sale of Goods Act makes no distinction between goods sold at a profit and goods sold at a loss. |
