Permission Problem
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions
Just got a new Win 7 / 64 box and set it up with an Admin and Standard User account. I partitioned the drive into 3 sections , putting my Data files on J. For my initial install I had an Outlook data file and a Quicken data file on J drive and all was fine. I accessed them from my Standard user account. A few installations didn't go as planned later on , so I decided to restore from a previously saved image I made with Windows Backup when I first got the computer . I'm trying to reinstall and re link my Data to the j drive location ( for the Standard user account ) and now I'm told that I don't have permission to access the files ? I opened the drive from the Admin account and gave permission to everyone on the list , but I still can't access from the Standard user account. eg when I try to open the Quicken or Outlook pst file I'm told I can't access it. I can get everything from the Admin account , but I'd really like to be able to use the Standard account if possible. Many Thanks |

Note another button at the bottom also saying Permissions Hi Trev After the 'panic ' subsided , I managed to figure it out. Right click SHARE WITH and then I selected the Standard User's Name. I think I know why I had a 'problem' after restoring the image. Before the image my Computer Name and Description were INTEL and Corei5 respectively After I restored the image , I set it up again , and this time I ' think ' I reversed them ? Won't make that mistake again ! Thanks for the reply...I'm sure I'll be back soon ! |
