Default problem installing scanner

My os is sp home. Tried to install a canon LiDE 20 and got
a message to insert service pack 1 cd. Does this mean that
I will have a problem installing any scanner? If so how
can I get a copy of the cd being requested?

It appears that canon does not make a driver for XP for this scanner.
However it does have one for windows 2000 which sometimes work. I suggest
you check it out at www.canon.com
This has been a common practice with scanner manufactures, you see it is up
to them to write the drivers for the device. If they choose not to do they
figure you will have to buy a new device. Maybe the device is just to old to
write drivers for it. Either way you are stuck buying a new device.

When it looks for the SP1 CD you can try pointing it at the ServicePackFile
folder in c:\windows.

Ignore the poster that says Canon don't make an XP driver for this
scanner.... yes, they do, if you've lost the Canon CD, it's at their website
