Default d drive "not accessible"

just bought a new laptop. it will play recorded cds but
it will not recognize blank disks, either r or rw, giving
the message "D:\ is not accessible". this makes copying
files impossible.

also, keyboard works correctly in most modes except chat.
i went to a tech chat last night in trying to resolve the
drive problem and noticed that the space bar frequently
gave a line break. any ideas.

thanks

Hi Blake,

I don't know about the keyboard problem, but regarding the CDR issue.. do
you get the "D:\ is not accessible" error when you attempt to open the drive
containing the blank disc from Windows Explorer? If so, then have you tried
checking that recording is enabled on the drive? Right-click on the CD drive
in "My Computer", select Properties, then in the Properties dialog box go to
the "Recording" tab and ensure that "Enable CD recording on this drive" is
checked.

I hope this helps..?

The clue is in your posting.... "just bought a new laptop..."

TAKE IT BACK!

You paid for a guarantee with the machine, it's supposed to work. If it
doesn't take advantage of the guarantee until you find one that works. Make
the people responsible for the problem fix it to your satisfaction!
