WinZip 7 (I used for years) will not install. So far, I have used 7-Zip once to unzip a .ZIP file and I had no problems. Note: 7-Zip is free. Has anyone had any issues using this file(s) compressor? Thank You in advance, John None at all, I dumped WinZip and WinRAR long ago. Is 7-Zip remarkably better that Winzip and Winrar? I own both. Fokke I would not say 'remarkably', but it is free. :-) There is a pretty good summary he http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...crar,3436.html Thanks. This makes sense. Gonna try 7-Zip as well. There's a lot of noise, but once you clear that out (filters), you should see if there's an update for 7-Zip. -- s|b |

Yes, me too. It's a dilemma. I try to set them all for don't update, in order to avoid that start-up delay while they phone home. But I often end up months and months out of date. I grit my teeth and stick with it. I often hear from someone else online that there's a new great update for X, so I get it. Ed |
