Default Modem Problems In Windows XP

I'm having a problem with an Internal modem in Windows XP.

When I dial up to the internet, it connects fine. But when I disconnect and
try to connect again, I get the message that a dial tone is not found. So I
swapped the phone line into the other socket on the back of the modem card
and tried again. It dialed in okay. But when i tried to connect again, same
problem and I had to put the phone line back in the first socket and again
it worked fine.

So, each time I connect, I have to change the phone cable in the back of the
modem card as it keeps switching after each connection.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how to you fix it? I've been
through all of the settings and couldn't find a single thing to change.

Me too ! This happens to me on a sporadic basis and I have no idea why.
You can fix it by rebooting but that's a pain in the butt. If you find a
fix for this or an explanation, let me know. Thanks...
