Default Windows Lags at Startup

-----Original Message-----
My Windows XP Professional lags during startup. The

Start
menus works, though things seem to just pause. I can

open
programs, but they will not function for about 10-20
seconds, at which point the startup sound will play and

I
can use my computer normally. What could cause this? How
can I fix this?
.

Are you running low on Hard Drive space? This is ususally
the most likely reason, Windows seems to seprform poorly
when their is lack or HD space, you can either free up
space and defragment the Hard drive or, back up and
reformat and things should be fine
