PC BIOS could be set up to "Wake up on Modem" or "Wake up on LAN" activity?

Record your dreams. They must be electrostatic! (... a
reference to why Yves' answer has merit)

Check in BIOS. There usually is a setting to automatically start the
computer, either once or regularly..

A BIOS setting might enable wake-up on events to your NIC or modem.
Check if an "alarm" function is BIOS is set to power up your computer.
Also check your scheduled tasks to see if any are configured to wake
from sleep mode.

Default Computer starts in the night

Hey Caroline, I recently experienced the same problem. I went through
several scenerios trying to determine if I had solved the problem to no
avail. One thing that I had been doing over the past several months was to
add hardware such as an additional drive, some memory and a new scanner. I
was talking to a friend recently who suggested that I check the power supply
wattage and make sure that it is at least 300Watt. When I looked I had a 235
wat power supply attached. I spent about $45.00 for a 400watt supply and
that seems to have solved my problem. . . No more Ghost. . . . Tom J.
