Default File names all now appear underlined.

What have I done? Suddenly all the file and directory names both in the
Desktop beneath the icons and in Windows Explorer all have their names
underlined. It all works OK but just looks wrong. There is no change in the
colouring of the names.

Go to Control Panel and double click Folder Options.
On the General page, look in the "Click items as follows"
section.
The behavior you describe indicates you've selected "Underline
icon titles consistent with my browser" under "Single-click to
open and item".
If you simply want to remove the underlining but keep
single-click enabled, select the other option, "Underline icon
titles only when I point at them".

Keep in mind that "Double click to open an item (single click
to select)" is the normal setting.

Good luck

Thank you so much Nepatsfan

Amazing what you can do when you know how. Believe me I have spent ages
searching databases trying to find the answer and failed miserably. You make
it seem so easy - and of course it worked very quickly. Once again - thank
you very much for the time and help.

Thank you so much for your help. The only question that comes to mind is how the !@!#$!# it happened as I did not do it myself. It just appeared that way one day.

Cheers

You thought any of the participants were still watching that OVER 2-1/2 YEAR
