Default Location of CMOS Battery in HP Pavilion N3390 Laptop

SNIP

Hi Paul,

It sure does look like that might be the CMOS battery on the bottom of the
mother board, near the AC adapter connector. Unfortunately, there is no
access from the bottom unless I use a dremel tool to cut an opening. I am
SHOCKED that HP would put a CMOS battery in a location that requires major
disassembly. I have replaced CMOS batteries on various laptops of mine over
the years, but never had to remove the mother board.

Do you know this image to be that of a HP Pavilion N3390?

Thanks again, John

Well, it's a sale site, and sale sites have been known to put the
wrong pictures up for a sale item.

About all you can do, is "correlate" what you're seeing in the pictures,
against the item in hand, and see if it's a match. That at least
adds some weight, but doesn't give a 100% assurance it is what it
says it is.

Paul

Hi Paul, FINAL UPDATE:

I am extremely grateful to you for that link to the image of the bottom
of the HP Pavilion N3390. It is a match!

I used my dremel tool and carefully cut a square opening at the position
I saw in the image. BY GOLLY, there is the CMOS battery!!!!

The battery is in a snap in holder (no wires). It is a rechargeable 3V
# ML1220. I removed the battery and sure enough, it is run down (.6V). Since
I don't use this laptop often, and the main battery is no good, this
rechargeable CMOS battery "ran down".

After about an hour, without any CMOS battery, I powered up the laptop.
This time when I press F1 or F2 after getting the time/date error message,
there is no password prompt. I can now use this laptop again.

I will get a new rechargeable ML1220 CMOS battery, then leave the
laptop plugged in (AC adapter) for several hours. I will put a plastic cover
over the opening.

Thank You Very Much, John
