Default Printer sharing

I have a home network setup and I bought a new printer so I want to share
that printer with my laptop in another room but when I use the wizard to
browse for the printer all I get is Microsoft Windows Network in the list
and no printer is listed. What am I doing wrong, why cant it find my
printer which is set up for sharing?
I am using XP SP3

Is it a network printer, or a USB (or parallel, but it won't be parallel
if it's a new one) that is connected to a particular PC? If the latter,
have you enabled printer sharing on that PC? If so, and the PC to which
the printer is connected is called Fred, then entering \\fred\ into the
run box on another PC on the network will work.
