Default Replacing 'Date' column with 'Date Modified' permanently

I far prefer to have Date Modified displayed in all folders (as it was
during my 15 years with XP) instead of Date which Win 10 shows by
default. I'm constantly opening folders, moving up and down the tree,
etc, so this is a significant hindrance.

Is it possible to achieve this permanently via either settings, a
registry hack or a reliable freeware tool please?

Thanks, but (as per my other post this morning) that doesn't appear to
work here - or, at last, only for a short time.

In your case, having done that for one folder of JPGs (e.g
D:\Pictures\Photos\xyz), do you find those settings immediately
displayed for all other such subfolders?

One thing I have noticed in the past is that Windows tries to detect
folders containing pictures and then treats them differently than
normal folders. For example, picture folders might have thumbnails vs
the details list for others. Make sure you try your preferred
settings in both types of folders (most jpgs vs mostly other) and then
apply them to all folders.

I use xplorer2, which has a lot of good features, including that Date
Modified is the one it shows. Later I added Date Created and Date
Accessed, and they are to the right, but maybe I could change the order,
either by dragging or by deleting a column and opening it later and
maybe that would put it on the right. But Date Modified is the first
one now.

I have thumbnails for my .exe programs too. They have a little man with
MS in big letters on his chest and he's struggling to lift an anvil. g
