Hi Philo,

I installed 57 beta a few weeks ago on several client's computers.
(It is suppose to automatically roll over to general release.)
I forget which issues it solved, but one of them was the
performance issue you noted. I was really pleased.

I personally am of one of those stupid ESR versions myself as
the general release won't run on Scientific Linux 7.x

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1392014

I wish they'd hurry up and fix it!

I noticed that. It cleans out all the cobb webs. It is a
double edged sword.

I find customers with 30 to 40 addons that they "have
no idea" how they got there.

It wouldn't unless you already had trouble with
your browser being notably slow. Anyone who
controls script, blocks flash and auto-playing video,
and maybe blocks at least some ads, shouldn't be
finding speed a problem. There's something wrong
if someone thinks speed is an important factor.

Looked at the bug report and as much as programs run okay, I see things
like this on some when run on the command line. Don't know what it
means but it doesn't seem to bother my Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3.

This is running firefox:
(firefox:22378): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion
'object-ref_count 0' failed

(firefox:22378): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion
'object-ref_count 0' failed

and these two lines repeat about 5-6 times on startup and then a few on
close. But again, this isn't just firefox. Granted not every program
but some few.

What's stupid about the ESR version? It allows programmers until
(March/April?) 2018 to switch from add-on to WebExtension!

Faster than what?

Slightly faster than molasses.

Light or dark molasses? :-)

Any that have been left outside today (around 2C with a nasty SE wind
with a windchill hat would deball a brass monkey.)

I don't think molasses and brass monkeys are affected by wind chill. ;-)

It freeze bugs and all and has very little innovation. Plus
I can not see what my customer see in the general release
versions.

The new extension format is annoying, but I can still use most of
what I want on Fedora, which supports the latest versions.

Wind chill only affects animals and humans metals and inanimate objects
are usually not affected. Water pipes containing warm or hot water can
be affected.

I use both versions at the same time. 52.x ESR is installed and 57.x is
the portable version from portableapps.com. I've changed
FirefoxPortable.ini so they can both run the same time.

The latest realease for Windows 10 is not compatible with
Down Them All which was the only reason to stay with FF.

I use FF predominately and sometimes Brave. A lot
of folks got slammed into Chrome and have stayed
with it. Chrome grates on me. It is not very
user friendly. It may just be me.

If you miss down load them all you may find that Download Star

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...-star/?src=api

is an acceptable substitute. I works for me but I do not use it that often
