Just type "Recorder" in it and see what turns out. There is no Cortana. http://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=5377886Clipboard01.jpg I didn't set this PC up, it was given to me, but it *never* had a search and that's OK because I never needed it before. I've been using this computer for about two years now and never needed to use Search which isn't on the menu anyway. I just want to know if someone, anyone, simply knows where the voice recorder *executable* lies. Not a non-existent link to it. Not a non-existent search for it. The actual executable. It's "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsSoundRecorder_1 0.1710.2861.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\SoundRec.exe", but it's not a stand-alone executable. Even worse, the "WindowsApp" folder is hidder by default and it's permissions are assigned to the system. Try pressing the Windows and "S" keys simultaneously, typing in "Voice Recorder" and pressing "Enter". Ben |

The cursor blinks for a second showing the hourglass momentarily, but that's it. I think I'll just give up as it really shouldn't be this hard to run a simple sound recorder in Windows 10 especially when all we used to do was: Start Run soundrec (or was it sndrec?) |

There is no such search thing on this computer. I didn't set it up. There is no "Cortana" search anywhere. Even so, if we have to search, then we failed already. The need to search is a prime example of a broken system. Anyway, is there a way to manually run a Cortana search when it's disabled? Ah. I just thought of a way. Start Run cmd dir /s/b c:\* c:\Users\mr\search.txt I don't know what it will do in "protected" directories (see below). I found four copies of the executable. Here is a picture of one of the locations: https://imgur.com/a/EMOae That directory is "protected" it seems. http://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=7163890programfilesapp.jpg "You have been denied permission to access this folder" C:\Program Files\Windows Apps\ What's so secret about Windows Apps? |

You have gone to great lengths to hide your Identity by using different nyms - Lionel Muller, Roy Tremblay, Blake Snyder, Mad Rogers, Claire Snyder, Karen Blake, Anonymous, Mother ****er, Roger Blake, etc etc. Now even your computer can't find you!!!!!!!!!!. are you really surprised. I understand even the authorities are having trouble tracking your movements, Your open VPN seems to be doing a very good job. I know the solution but I am not going to be an accessory to facilitate your activities of abusing young boys and girls. You do whatever is suitable for you and let the authorities find you. Nutters here are going to help you hide your Id but that is there problem. They are drug dealers themselves so they need you. -- With over 600 million devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

Be sure to include the colon at the end. ms-callrecording: Incidentally, all these procedures work fine on my Windows 10 computer. That was an interesting test because it partly worked. http://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=3512849callrecording.jpg Start Run ms-callrecording: It complains that "You'll need a new app to open this ms-callrecording" Where the "OK" button is grayed out and therefore unusable. Maybe you have to be administrator to use the voice recorder? |

Well, the evidence is, it's an App... so good luck with that. You'd be better off hijacking sndrec.exe from some other OS and bringing it in. Of course, real people on a schedule have already downloaded Audacity, and they're done and gone for dinner. This avoids the peculiar flare Microsoft has for Sound Recorders, so you don't have to worry about resources quite as much. http://www.audacityteam.org/ I sometimes use Audacity for archiving voice mail off my little telephone answering machine (and no, the TAM doesn't have 1/8" jacks or anything, so you have to do it the hard way). I will use Audacity. I already had it in my archives. I just have to install it and figure out how to get it to record. That should be easy though. So I'll give up on the voice recorder and go with Audacity. thanks! |
