I have a Dell XPS 8500, with Windows 7
Professional, SP1, with Spywareblaster,
Malwarebytes, Avast, Windows Defender,
and Windows Firewall.

(1) TB HD
Intel (R) Core (tm) I7-33-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
RAM 12.0 GB
System type: 64-bit operating system

I also have

a Dell Opiplex 780 tower with Windows 7
professional, SP1, with Spywareblaster,
Malwarebytes, Avast, Windows Defender
and Windows Firewall.

(1) TB HD
Intel (R) Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz
4 GB RAM, 750 GB HD
System type: 64-bit operating system

external hard drives:

Seagate backup pls (1) TB 2.5 USB portable HD

WD Black series WD2003FZEX 2 TB 7200
RPM 64 MB Cache SATA 6.0- Gb/s 3.5"
Internal hard drive.

This question involves the 8500,. I've noticed
recently that when I go to eBay and look at an
item neither my backspace key or using the mouse
will take it back whereas before I was able to
do so.

This is the only site I seem to have a problem
with though. So is it something with eBay or my
settings or something else?

Thoughts/suggestions?

This article handles the issue generally.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/924490

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.backspace_action

about:config === enter in URL bar

browser.backspace_action 2 === disables backspace

Mine is set to zero right now and the backspace key works.
I tried Ebay in a really old browser and a really new browser (59)
and the backspace key works in an Ebay search.

If it doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. Something
could be interfering with it, but what ? Add-on ? I doubt it.
No developer of add-ons should be binding to backspace because
it has a well-known usage.
