Suggest you consider thoroughly before you install this. There are many
reports about
problems. I have had 3-4 myself and have gone back to ver 4.5.594.000.

1. Doesn't remember which tab you were in when you X out of the window.
2. Downloading becomes iffy! Seems to interfere with the Microsoft download
window.
3. Can't get the latest NAV updates from their web site because of #2
4. Doesn't recognize some of the AntiVirus programs (sort of like XP-SP2)

The biggest issue I noticed was that McAfee had to be totally uninstalled to
install this version of ZoneAlarm. I am not willing to do that.

You are quite right. This version of ZA is full of bugs. Caused numerous
crashes on my system. Uninstalled it and went back to v 4.5 but found that
the "real time protection" mode of my eTrust EZ AV program was permanently
disabled. I had to use XP's system restore utility to get things back to
normal.

No problems here for me....I have been running that version since it came
out. I am running ZA pro though. You didn't mention if it was pro or not.

I was just prompted to download 50_590_015. It complains
about the PFW in my Trend Micro AV, even thought the PFW
is turned off, and ZA and Trend have been happily coexisting
for months.

Same here. The latest ZoneAlarm says it won't install until I remove
PC-cillin, and PC-cillin says it won't install unless I remove ZoneAlarm.

Guess I'll have to stick with the older ZA unless someone has a work-around.

I've started my third day here with the free version, STILL no problems at
all either. Using Norton AntiVirus 2002 and a DSL connection to the
internet. Being I only have one computer, I do not have a router however.

Yes it does. They actually have preset that it goes back to the one window,
when I reported that it wasnt working right.

2. Downloading becomes iffy! Seems to interfere with the Microsoft

Both 5.x releases still interfere with things badly and they havent properly
fixed it yet. Unable to use any 5.x version here and I paid for it!

It works well for me after installing version 5.0.590.043 before that I
had problems with defrag and chkdsk, not anymore.

My Zone Alarm Pro, daily prompts me to update, but,
one day it offers ver 5.0.590.015, the next day ver 5.0.590.043.
then back to 5.0.590.015. (when it decides which one is correct I
will.....?)
