Win 7 and network drives

Hi all,

I have upgraded to a new PC, first with Vista and then upgraded to Win 7
(Both 64 bit). Now one problem is my network drive, a Zolid 3½ inch external
drive with both USB and RJ45 connection.

I XP it ran smooth and I could log on from any PC if using the prober
password. In Vista I could log on as different user with the same user name
as my own account and the prober password, but I had to reconnect every time
I wanted acces with unmap/map the drive.
In Win 7 I can see the drive, but not access, no problem right now as it is
backups, and I don't need them now, but how to make new ones?

In proberties I can see the drive and see that it's supposed to run on NT
4.9 Server.

Anyone got any ideas?

Interesting terminology. I've never known an external HDD attached to a PC
that you have to "log-on" to.
Is there something you aren't telling us?
Is the mention of NT Server a clue?

I don't think I'm leaving anything out. It's used as backup and shared
files, the drive can either be used as a USB drive, or formattet trough the
software in the box which demands a FAT32 (No can't chose NTFS)
I made four folders on it, that each appears as a seperate network drive.
Each folder has a username and a password - I was not allowed to leave the
password empty.

Basic idea is to have a seperate drive on which I can copy all digital
photoes and music for sharing with wife and kids. Some folders are for data
storage, the drive being placed far away from the other PC's so either fire
or theft probably would not affect bothe PC and backup drive.

PC and programs can be restored, or replaced by insurance, but not family
photoes etc.

Then you must be using some third-party security software. Windows doesn't
have the function natively to add usernames and passwords to folders.

Yes, the software came with the "Network drive" from Zolid.

Maybe that's the problem. Have you checked with Zolid that their software is
compatible with Windows 7?
