Reocurring entry in the System Event log...
In the System Event Viewer I see an event that occurs every 15 minutes on
one of my disk drives. I have no idea what is doing this as the drive passes all diagnostics that I've done. I've swapped cables and controllers with no change. This is a Western Digital 36gig 10,000rpm SATA hard drive. It's connected to the SATA controller on a DFI nF4 LanParty Ultra-d mainboard. The trap is as follows: Event Type: Warning Event Source: Disk Event Category: None Event ID: 51 Date: 2007-06-12 Time: 8:44:18 AM User: N/A Computer: STEVESPC Description: An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\D during a paging operation. .... and these traps occur at 15 minute intervals: 7:42:55am 7:58:20am 8:13:39am 8:28:57am 8:44:18am .... WHAT could Windows be doing that would cause this behaviour? What happens every 15 minutes that would flag an error on this drive? Currently the drive holds my "My Documents" folder, but I was getting these same events with a freshly formatted drive - before any files were put onto it. |

Do a good full backup of all your data, and run a chkdsk on this volume. You can run a view-only one first. |

Have a look here and see if any of the suggestions match your situation. http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?e...Disk&pha se=1 |

The drive doesn't support NCQ, so that option isn't availble to turn off. I should have another SATA drive to swap out in the next couple of days to see if that is the source. Thanks! |

Hope you have some success. I always use http://www.eventid.net/ when I get event log messages that don't really give enough information. |
