Default "Code 10" Error code in Device manager for Optorite D1601 DVD-RW

I am running SP1 Slipstreamed Windows XP Pro
The slipstreamed CD has all drivers included
2 x 40 GB Maxtor Hdd
2 x 256 MB PC3200 OCR DDR Memory
ABIT NF7-S2 MB with Latest BIOS
ATI Radeon 9600 128mb Video Card
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Processor
Optorite Dual Layer DVD-RW Drive (D1601)
No Floppy Drive

I am able to boot from the DVD-RW Drive. I can load windows from the drive,
and load all drivers. I only have one splat in the device manager. It is for
the DVD-RW drive. It doesn't assign the drive a letter, and I am unable to
access it in windows at all. I have tried the drive on IDE 1 and 2. As both
Master and Slave. The BIOS detects the drive fine.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BlueJay1839,

Absolutely make sure the ribbon cable is on correctly at both the ROM and
the mobo and that it definitely has power.

That has absolutely nothing to do with it. There is no way you could
load Windows from the drive or have the BIOS use the drive properly if
this was the case.

Right click on the drive in Device Manager, click Uninstall, then reboot
and let Windows reinstall the drive. If that doesn't fix it, post back
