"No Audio Device"
Hi,
Every time I restart my PC windows seems to lose the soundcards I have installed. The symptom of this problem is (apart form the lack of sound) that when I got into Control Panel\Sounds and Audio Devices the property page shows "No Audio Device". However if I look in Device Manager I can see my soundcard. Looking at the properties of the device it shows that it is working fine. The only way to get sound to work is to uninstall the card through Device Manager and then scan for new hardware. Once this is complete the soundcard shows up in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties. However if I reboot I have to repeat the whole process. Very annoying!!! System details are as follows: WinXP Home SP1 (can't use SP2 due to some 3rd Party incompatibility issues) Processor AMD Athlon XP 2400+ Memory 512MB Soundcard Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Any help would be gratefully appreciated. hedgeh0g |

"No Audio Device"
Dave, do you have more than one sound card. Are the drivers up to date?

Hi,
There's also an on-board soundcard, but this isn't being picked up either . "Rich Barry" wrote in message ... Dave, do you have more than one sound card. Are the drivers up to date? Try disabling the onboard sound chip in the Bios. Try a different PCI
slot for your sound card. "hedgeh0g" wrote in message news Hi, There's also an on-board soundcard, but this isn't being picked up either . "Rich Barry" wrote in message ...
