Install stalls at 99%
I started to install Win 10 at 1730 yesterday. It's now 1330 and the
upgrade assistant shows 99%. Should I kill Windows10UpgraderApp.exe and try to start over? |

It is not unheard of for the upgrade or install to look like it's doing nothing for hours. I don't consider it stalled until it pauses for 4 to 6 hours. Even then I have seen some older PC's take longer while most finish in a couple of hours or less. |

Should I kill Windows10UpgraderApp.exe and try to start over? Get the Media Creation Tool, download for a dvd OR flash stick or both and install that way. Ken1943 +1 To others: I just did my wifes PC from the get windows 10 site where you download the Media Creation Tool, but I thought...hell...I'll just click 'upgrade now'. Boy was that a mistake. Hours just like the OP...and at 99% I did a power fail. Went back and got the media creation tool and made the win10 dvd and put it in the drive and it started the install and it ran in a few hours total. I've got it fully cleaned up and tweaked after about 5 hours (elapse time not labor). PS I booted the DVD and it said that you can only clean load from the booted DVD, and I had to put the dvd in the drive on a running system so it would autorun and load. That way I was able to keep all my software. I only had to do this since I had an OEM system and I had no key to put into a clean load. Just FYI. |

Ken1943 I used the media creation tool to burn a dvd as well and successfully upgraded four computers with it. IMO it's definitely the best way to upgrade/fresh install win10 on any pc. |

Can I use a media creation tool DVD that I made on one computer on a second computer? |
