Default SP2 for pirated XP ?

I searched google, but I am still not sure whether SP2 will install on
pirated XP machines. I found this old posting since May 2004, but what
is the fact?

If its one of the frequently used keys that MS know about then it won't.

If you are using a pirated version of Windows XP, what makes you
even think you are entitled to SP2 support?

Run the Windows XP Product Key Validation Assistant:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/h...s/default.mspx

You receive a "The product key used to install Windows is invalid" error message:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winxp

If you are getting the following error message when attempting to update:

"The product key used to install Windows is invalid"

You'll have to purchase a new "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and perform a "Repair Install" using the new Windows XP Pro CD and Product Key
that comes with it. (You cannot simply change the Product Key)

If you attempt to install SP2 on an illegal copy
of Win XP, it will reformat your hard drive and
possibly burn out your monitor.

I don't think I'd be asking this question on an MS sponsored Newsgroup using my
real email address, if I were you. You're inviting a visit from the Black
Helicopters.

Yeah, cause you'll go to hell for sure. And Bill Gates will be
there (because he and Satan are best buddies) jabbing you in the
ass with a pitchfork, saying over and over, "You should have paid
me more money! You should have paid me more money!"
