Default How can anyone use Windows 8.x?

A local store that sells used electronics has a laptop with Windows 8.x
on it. Although I have been looking for a newer laptop, this one was
kind of expensive, but I know the seller will accept offers, so I
decided to look at it.

I should mention that I have never used any MS OS newer than XP.

I turned on that computer and saw that butt ugly "metro screen". YUCK!

After that, I was lost. There isn't even a START button.
How can anyone use that POS?

I didn't even know how to shut it down, and the seller did not know
either. I just closed the lid and figured it will shut down after the
battery is drained. It's kind of funny, the seller knows nothing about
electronics. He is over 70 years old, and just bought the business from
a guy who sort of knew what he was selling. Heck, the guy has a whole
wall of DVD movies and could not figure out how to connect a DVD player
to a TV. I connected it for him, in trade for a movie. We were both
happy.

If the price was a lot better, I'd consider buying it, and just wiping
the HDD and installing XP, but I'll just keep shopping till I get a
better deal. For all I know, that computer is possibly too new for XP
anyhow.

It's a HP brand, but I did not get the model#.

Just seeing that it was Windows 8.x turned me off to it....
(I was hoping it would have been Windows 7).

All I do know, is that I'd never buy anything with Windows 8 or 10.
I'll probably just keep using XP and Win98 for the rest of my life....
(Or maybe try Windows 7, if I can find it).
