Default Messenger Sounds Gone after installing and uninstaling beta 8 Urge

Hi, I have a problem.
I've tried Messenger live Beta 8, unistalled it cause I prefer 7.5,
and then reinstalled 7.5 and the problem started. I 've no sound on
messenger for example contact online, new message, new mail, etc, no sounds
at all. And even the sound scheme disappeared from Tools- Options- Alerts
and Sounds- Sounds, etc... When I go there I no longer have the option MSN
messenger like before... So I've tried to repair messenger (several times
should I say...) and nothing... Them I uninstaled 7.5, did a full system
repair, install msn 7.5 again and still nothing, no sounds... So I've
unistalled 7.5 again, tried msn 6 and guess what...no sounds!
I'm using 7.5 again but without sounds... If somebody haves a solution
please help, cause there are other discussions with the same problem but no
replies...
Thank you!!!!

Default Messenger Sounds Gone after installing and uninstaling beta 8 Urge

Hi,

Yes, I have the exact problem. After installing and uninstalling Messenger
Live and then reinstalling 7.5....

If you go to the "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties Box", to the 'Sounds"
tab. Under the Program Events there is "MSN Messenger" but the sound optiions
such as "contact on line" are no longer there.

If you reinstall Messenger Live they reappear. I would like to go back to
using 7.5, but will have no sound. Is there a fix for this? As PattyAlex said
there are others with the same problem. HELP!!!

Thanks!

Default Messenger Sounds Gone after installing and uninstaling beta 8

Hi, there

Nobody here cared but I found a solution somewhere else and it worked for
me. first copy the following into notepad and save it as msn_sounds.reg:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR]
@="MSN Messenger"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_Buzz]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_Buzz\.Current]
@="C:\\Program Files\\MSN Messenger\\nudge.wav"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_ContactOnline]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_ContactOnline\.Current]
@="C:\\Program Files\\MSN Messenger\\online.wav"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_NewAlert]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_NewAlert\.Current]
@="C:\\Program Files\\MSN Messenger\\newalert.wav"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_NewMail]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_NewMail\.Current]
@="C:\\Program Files\\MSN Messenger\\newemail.wav"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_NewMessage]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_NewMessage\.Current]
@="C:\\Program Files\\MSN Messenger\\type.wav"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_NewSMSMessage]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_NewSMSMessage\.Current]
@="C:\\Program Files\\MSN Messenger\\ring.wav"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_PhoneRing]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_PhoneRing\.Current]
@="C:\\Program Files\\MSN Messenger\\phone.wav"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_PhoneRingOutgoing]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_PhoneRingOutgoing\.Current]
@="C:\\Program Files\\MSN Messenger\\outgoing.wav"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_VoiceIMFinished]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR\M SNMSGR_VoiceIMFinished\.Current]
@="C:\\Program Files\\MSN Messenger\\vimdone.wav"

When you finish this you will have a registry file, open it and add it to
the registry. This will bring the sound options back.
P.S. Don't forget to change the path of the programs files if using a OS
with diferent language!

Then go to http://www.imzers.com/msn/downloads/ and select " register
messenger dll, install it.

I did this using this order and I have my sounds back, hope this will work
for you and other with the same problem.

A BIG thanks to the guys in other foruns that gave me a LOT of possible
solutions until I found the working ones.

Please give your feedback if this helps!!
