Help! Had to reinstall XP, now DVD does not read...
Computer crashed, and I had to re-install XP. I'm on Home edition 2002, with
service pack 3. All programs and hardware work normally now, except for the internal DVD/CD-RW. It will play any audio cd in Windows Media Player. It will read a CR-Rom, as I used it to re-install all of my software. The problem arose when I purchased Office 2007. Apparently it is on a DVD, not a CD-Rom. It shows 0 files on the install disk. I then attempted to run a regular DVD movie, with the same result. No error messages, it just doesn't do anything, and shows "0 Files" when I open that drive on the control panel. I then hooked up an external DVD/CDRW (HP DVD840e via USB) Same result with it. I have gone to the MS website and downloaded the "update drivers" link, as well as making sure that "automatic updates" are enabled. The troubleshooting option in Device Mgr says the device is working properly. If it is helpful, here is my system: eMachines T3304 w/ AMD sempron 330+ Lite On Combo DVD/CDRW internal to computer. Thanks in advance for any info! |
