Everything Stealing Too Much CPU
Thanks all. On next boot i will look at things more critically.
I use the latest Everything on both XP and 7 and 10. no Vista or 8 here. This was not a new update or install when the problem arose. The laptop had been booten many times and run for hours each time so indexing is not the likely culprit. Anyway the new Everything seem to be lightning fast of all fronts. kudos to the developer. I use everything all the time. e.g. I download a file using FireFox or whatever and the downloader does not show it so I use Everything and sort by date and there is the just downloaded file. love it. I even include my flash (pen) drives and NAS drives. It may have been that Everything was trying hard to find some disconnected drives and spinning its wheels there. unfortunately i see no way to temporarily disconnect drives that are not available at boot time. new post coming. OGEE wrote: Latest Everything.exe installed. It is so much faster and very useful EXCEPT ! when minimized to the taskbar it eats over 80% of the CPU causing other apps to turn into snails. If I bring it to the main window "Show Search Window" Everything stops stealing all that CPU and drops down to around 3% CPU usage. Any way to moderate Everything ? --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus |
