Default Updating Windows 7 with Classic Shell already installed

I know that Classic Shell works with Windows 8, but I want to know what
will happen if I install Windows 8 as an update to Windows 7 that
already has Classic Shell installed. Will it automatically be applied to
Windows 8, or will I have to reinstall it to get the Start menu and all?

Don't know but I'm pretty sure you'll have to install it again. Not a
bad idea anyway since it's been updated fairly recently.

I have the latest build, but you are probably right. I was just hoping
that I could avoid Metro altogether. :-)

It's probably in your best interest to remove Classic Shell prior to using a Win8 Upgrade CD since the Upgrade Assistant may see it
as non-compatible. Once the system is upgraded to Win8, then reinstall the 3rd party application.

When Metro comes up, press the Windows key, I *think* that takes you to
the start menu.
