Does anyone notice that the Windows Help gets less informative than its
predecessors?

I don't know. The bar was set pretty low to begin with...

I haven't used it much in 8, but so far it seems familiar in its
usefulness :-(

Possibly planned.
- Similar to the direction Office takes (took) - Less local, more online in conjunction with forum based support. The latter
primarily contracted (outsourced) but monitored and the support system knowledge base influenced by telemetry automatically
collected (phone home) by the o/s.
