After junior college, I was at OU only 2 years, 1954-56 (in the middle of
the 47-game winning streak!), getting my BBA in Accounting. The main things
I remember about the engineers was that they painted everything green -
including their creatively-styled beards - on St. Patrick's Day. ;) I've
never been closer to NYC than Chattanooga - once.

Well, I haven't thought of the special affinity that the OU Engineers
had for Green and St. Patrick for many, many years. I never did
understand why the Engineering students/school adopted St. Pat as
their patron. St. Pat wasn't an engineer to my knowledge. They
didn't have engineers in those days.

Hmmm. Since "Patrick" was a "Saint", it's likely that status was
obtained AD. I doubt that the pyramids were built by folks who were just
guessing about how to do such things. ;-)

They obviously had help from visiting alien astronauts. People back in
those primitive days obviously couldn't have built the pyramids without
alien help...

A couple of thoughts:

1. The smart engineers of the 21st century are still trying to figure
out how the pyramids and Stonehenge were built. Some ideas have emerged,
but we ain't there yet. Alien visitors are not part of the guesses,
however :-)

2. Heck, after all, they *were* humans back in those days...

I prefer to believe that it was a 'Wierd Science' type of support with
Kelly LeBrock showing up and providing all the incentive the human
workers needed.

:-)

But how do you keep the workers and engineers[1] on track with a
distraction like her around?

[1] I truly think they qualified for that title even without slide rules
and pocket protectors.

LOL!

I usually skip commercials, but I often retrace my steps for Geico. But
I missed that one, so thanks.

It didn't necessarily have to be funny[1], but they did it with a very
deft touch...

[1] e.g., if I had been the one to design and film the commercial.

I've got a dry sense of humor. When the guy mutters "Uh-oh" at the end,
it makes me laugh every time I see it.

Check out this compilation of commercials for the "Trunk Monkey" (in
case you haven't seen them), hysterical.

New to me.

I watched a couple, but it's lunch time, and I'm getting too weak to go
on. I'll watch the whole set later.

They're well done so far.

I thought that was one of their better commercials. Especially when
considering the 3D transformation that would lead one to rotate a block in
such a way that it would become a pyramid.

OK, I'm confused.

The top vertex of those pyramids have four surfaces meeting.

The vertices of cubes have three surfaces meeting.

There's got to be more to this than rotation...

I've already made one major mistake today on Usenet, so I'm ready to be
wrong again...

Turn the cube on its edge and bury half of it, then cut/chisel off two
sides leaving 4 sides meeting at a common point should make something
close to the pyramid.

I was going to try it but I didn't feel like cutting up my Rubik.

If you do try it make sure your pyramid aligns within three-sixtieths of
a degree of true north-south otherwise Kelly LeBrock may never show up.
