Default No sound on Dell computers

Weird sound problem on my 2 Dell desktops.

Dell Studio XPS 435MT
2.67 ghz Intel i7 920
Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) SP1
On board sound.

Dell XPS 8700
3.40 ghz intel i7-4770
Windows 8.1 (x64)
Sound Blaster PCIe SB X-FI Titanium Fatality Pro Series Card.

Both computers acting the same way.
Both computers sound was working fine before installation of Tech Prev.

After updating to build 10041 I have no sound.
Same thing happened before with build 9926.

Sound was working fine in all builds before 9926.

Anybody else out there with Dell desktop that have installed the latest
build have no sound?

Forgot to mention that I tried both clean and upgrade install options.

Not to ask too stupid a question, but did you check with Dell
to see if they had an updated driver?

Acer laptop with the same issue with the build 10041, worked fine with
two ealrier builds, then 10041, no sound , uninstalled the sound
drivers and did a new load of the sound drivers, working fine again...

Thanks for the advice but I'm now in the process of restore the full HD
back to original.
Will play with that again during the week-end if I feel like it or wait
for the official release this summer.

That was going to be my next move but to frustrated now, so restoring HD
back to original.
Will play again with that later on when my blood pressure comes down a
bit. :-(

Got a separate hard drive you can swap in to do your tests?
When you have had you belly full of SOF (son-of-frankenstein,
w10 preview) you can go back to whatever you had before.

Default No sound on Dell computers

I realize I'm a bit late to this thread but my 2 cents may help someone.

I also have a Dell Optiplex 990 (MT) running Windows 8.1
I was getting No sound running Windows 10 on on VMWARE 11.x for the longest
time. By accident while looking through the VMWare Workstation VMX sound
setting on my host system Windows 8.1, I noticed the sound was set very
low/off. I just had to raise the sound level on my VMWare sound setting on
the host and my Windows 10 sound was now fine...
