Default Hiding "Applying personal settings" window

Hi,
I am trying to boot into a minimal XP environment with no taskbar,
no boot logo etc. - I've been able to strip windows of everything but
that window that says "applying personal settings" everytime the user
(automatically) logs on.

Is there any way to get rid of it, even a dirty hack like making it
appear offscreen or whatever?
Thanks in advance

Default Hiding "Applying personal settings" window

Abolishing the whole "Welcome Screen" thing in XP - reverting back to the
Windows 2000 (and NT) logon dialog box, may have the effect of not showing
the XP default pale-blue screens that display logon-status messages such as
"Applying your personal settings".

Also, you might try auto-login, if not already employed, this too may end
up by-passing the pale-blue logon screens.

From "Control Panel" "User Accounts" change the setting : "Change the
way users log on or off" and uncheck the box marked ; "Use the welcome
screen". This gets rid of the Welcome Screen. Obtain from :
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe

As for employing "auto-logon" , you can either use the free XP download :
TweakUI.exe and under the heading "Logon" "Autologon" or you can
download the TechNet Sysinternals [free] app : "Autologon.exe" from :
http://live.sysinternals.com/Autologon.exe

Alternatively, copy the text below into Notepad and save as a [*.reg]
file - remembering to change the values for DefaultUserName,
DefaultDomainName and DefaultPassword (not encrypted) that I just filled in
with the words "User", "Domain" and "password" respectively...

------------------- copy between lines -------------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

"ForceAutoLogon"="1"
"AutoAdminLogon"="1"
"DefaultUserName"="User"
"DefaultDomainName"="Domain"
"DefaultPassword"="password"

------------------- copy between lines -------------------

Default Hiding "Applying personal settings" window

Hello.
Thank you for your help! But, unluckily, I already bypassed the pale
blue "welcome" screen by setting up an autologon user.

Nonetheless, there's still an annoyance: a dialog window which appears
for five-ten seconds, which states "applying user settings"...
"preparing desktop" etc.

This is the last piece I am trying to hide/strip out.

Ahh, I remember now, the message you mention is not on the pale-blue
screen, but on a very small "banner" with a progress "style" bar that
cycles a grey/orange line showing that the load hasn't frozen while the
line colors continue to cycle. Am I right about that?

I have seen this on XP "Classic Logon" (as I have always used the "Welcome
Screen" myself) and is, by default, what is displayed when Windows 2000
logs on.

This is a feature that cannot be turned off, I fear, and I think you are
just going to have to put up with it.
