Whoa! How did you get Windows 7 RTM in July? That is when I installed
Windows 7 RC on three machines.

Windows 7 was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009,
and reached general retail availability worldwide on October
22, 2009...

The release candidate, build 7100, became available for MSDN
and TechNet subscribers and Connect Program participants on
April 30, 2009. On May 5, 2009 it became available to the
general public, although it had also been leaked onto the
Internet via BitTorrent. The release candidate was available in
five languages and expired on June 1, 2010, with shutdowns
every two hours starting March 1, 2010. Microsoft stated that
Windows 7 would be released to the general public on October
22, 2009. Microsoft released Windows 7 to MSDN and Technet
subscribers on August 6, 2009, at 10:00 am PDT. Microsoft
announced that Windows 7, along with Windows Server 2008 R2,
was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009. Windows 7 RTM
is build 7600.16385.090713-1255, which was compiled on July 13,
2009, and was declared the final RTM build after passing all
Microsoft's tests internally.

Default Client software files?

Quite a bit of times folks look at the file dates in the root or Windows folder on Win7 and report those July dates as the
installation date.

In this case of Ken's Win7 vs. Win8's no Office shortcuts in All Apps.... it doesn't matter since its not even remotely relevant.
Win7 was clean installed and not upgraded from a prior o/s (the purpose of asking the earlier question)

MSDN/TECHNET, MVP's and Win7 Connect approved beta testers got access all on the same day (first week in August) prior to the
general public since the downloadable file(s) were all hosted on the same server.
Other perk versions for specific beta testers (Win7 Ultimate Commemorative Edition, Win7 Ultimate Signature Edition/Ballmer signed,
and the infamous Win7 Connect beta tester boxed 'wtf' version which contained an Upgrade version/product key with a full install
key provided separately) arrived after the August download availability.

At this point, I can't remember how I removed them.

Windows 7 was clean installed when it first went RTM--July 2009.
Microsoft Office was installed a day or two afterwards.

By the way, I just checked on my wife's machine and she also has no
Microsoft Office tiles except for Outlook. But she *never* uses any
other Microsoft Office applications. And she uses Classic Shell,
rather than Start8.

I must have removed the Microsoft Office tiles from her machine too,
but I don't remember doing it on her's either.

Ugh! I meant "hers," of course. I hate to type a greengrocer's
apostrophe.

Then again, I *must* have removed them.

Think of All Apps as a pseudo folder that gathers information and shows application shortcuts that exist elsewhere

Removing an item from the All Apps screen requires one to physically delete the shortcut from the actual location the shortcut
resides (similar to deleting a shortcut from the Win7 Start Menu)

Ah, desktop shortcuts or shortcuts pinned to the task bar that were
also shown as tiles on the Metro screen! Neither I nor my wife had any
for any Microsoft Office apps except for Outlook.

So I didn't remove the tiles that I didn't remember removing. They
were never there.

Was it first week in August, not in July? I didn't remember so I went
to Google and found this on Wikipedia: "Windows 7 was released to
manufacturing on July 22, 2009"

You had Windows 7 RTM before October 22, 2009? I preordered a bunch of
copies months earlier. And mine came either on the 22nd of October or
the day after.

Yes as previously noted. Is that where Ken got it? That is what I am
trying to find out.

trying to find out.

Why ?
It has no relevance whatsoever to the presence/lack of Office shortcuts on the Win8 Start Screen or All Apps screen.
Win7 was clean installed with a retail version prior to GA (general public availability) an upgraded to Win8 Pro using the full
retail (but not the Personal Use System Builder OEM version) Win8 Pro version which will not be available to the general public but
likewise available like Win7 was prior to general public availability.

Because it affects somebodies state of worth. As the more misinformation
one (or a company or whatever) speaks, the more unbelievable they
become. Nobody is perfect of course and nobody can get everything right
all of the time. But when they are mistaken way too often, it makes one
to doubt more and more of what they say.

Your concern in this case is personal, imo, misguided and not worthy of a response.

The request (for said info on how someone obtained Win7 since it is was installed, validated/activated, and qualified to upgrade to
Win8 at this stage) is nothing but Horsepucky!

That last response and the lack of any other replies appears to have proven my point.

Pure rubbish! I don't know what your problem is? But you are not either
very truthful or honest.
