Default Win 8 password

I reinstalled Win8 to try to fix a problem. During the re-installation
I let myself get suckered into this Windows live or mail or something
that requires a password. I don't want any password to get into my
computer.

How do I get out of this problem. I just want to power it on and have
it boot up to the desktop. I tried looking into the BIOS and user
accounts but did not locate the secret.

Don't feel bad, I too got suckered into this Live mail crap whem
installing Win8.

I finally had to resort to wiping it all out and starting over from
scratch with a local account.

To add insult to injury Win8 live mail will not work with a pop 3
account unless you go over some more overlay crap with Google or g mail
or some such, ended up tossing live mail and went back to another mail
client.

Regards,

Well I just resolved that problem by trying the 'local account'. I just
stumbled on that option. It seems to work without messing up anything.
I never used Live Mail. I use Thunderbird. So, one problem solved.
Now for the restart issue.

That's just Win8 Mail, not Live Mail (two different programs). Windows Live
Mail (part of the Windows Essentials suite) *does* allow POP3, whereas Win8
Mail doesn't.

Windows Essentials is a separate download
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/essentials-home, and
contains other programs besides Live Mail.

You are absolutely correct SC tom I should have explained myself more
clearly, Win8 mail is correct.

It has nothing to do with Windows Live or mail.

Win8 provides 2 modes of operation.
- MSFT Account
- Local Account

The former uses a MSFT account email address username and pw, the latter does not use an email address but does require (like Win7
and earlier) a username and optional pw.

Not all the features of Win8 are available when operating in a local account.

Note: The first account created on a Win8 machine is always an admin account since it must be used to create any other account
(MSFT or local).
