Default How to find an installed KB in W8.1

You can go to Installed Updates window at Windows Update and search for
specific update in search field at upper-right corner.

That doesn't seem to work on my machine :-(
I use Search Everything and it finds the installation "packages" for any
installed update. Opening "This PC" in desktop view and entering the KB
number in the search box returns the same results.

What are you doing?

The instructions by Lars work on Win 8.1. Have you done some
configuring that you've forgotten about?

Control Panel/Programs and Features/View installed updates/ then type
in the KBxxxxxxx in the search box in the upper right corner (the box
titled Search Installed Updates)

Compared to the other suggestions, just eye-balling the list (not
_that_ long a list) would be quicker.

Y'all can talk to Lars about the ****ed up quoting and top posting.

And Homer gets a +.

Open the command prompt and enter this command:
wmic qfe list brief /format:htable "%USERPROFILE%\hotfix.html"
If you would rather have a text file, the command would be:
wmic qfe list brief /format:texttablewsys "%USERPROFILE%\hotfix.txt"

I like the text file as most text editors allow a simple key word search.

Do you know if there is a similar cmd line for Microsoft Office products
and Visual Studio versions?

This is a fantastic trick. Up to now I was relying on Belark Advisor to
tell me all my updates. On 29th September, I need to update all my
machines. I normally update once every 3 months on normal quarter days
(for those people in UK would know what these quarter days are ).

The patch ID is a text field content, not a number. The name of the patch
includes the "KB" prefix, so if you search for a hotfix named "2919442"
there will be no exact matches.

The WMIC command does have pattern-matching capabilities:

WMIC QFE WHERE (hotfixid like '%2919442') GET * /VALUE

but it's easier just to prepend "KB" to the number (and you don't need to
remember that WMIC uses '%' as its wildcard).

Irritating, yes. Strange, no.

That way it DOES work. I was searching from Control Panel Windows Update
View Update History. From there, search doesn't find anything. I wasn't even
thinking of Programs and Features.
