I've hardly ever seen that happen. The fact remains we just don't need PDF.

Pdf's are often made with editable form fields.
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf
If yours are not editable then they were not made right.

The fact is most are not made right. Not editable with the standard free acrobat reader anyway, which is what companies should assume everybody has.

Anything is better than Adobe products. Except Apple products.

That's your view. Years ago, it was also mine, but it no longer is.

And you say "the fact remains," but it's very far from a fact. And the
enormous majority of people agree with me, not you.

Depends where you are and where you're looking. The example given that worked was from the US tax office. An example of a thing I've looked at is a UK sample tenancy agreement. My friend is a landlord and wanted to download one and adjust it to include the relevant details of himself, the tenant, and the address of the house. It was bloody ridiculous getting it to work. I ended up converting it to a Word document to make it editable, then fixing all the formatting that got ****ed up.

The fact remains we just don't need PDF.

That's your view. Years ago, it was also mine, but it no longer is.

Odd. If anything we need PDF LESS now. A decade or so ago, there were compatibility problems which PDF was supposed to fix (like Apples and PCs etc), but those days are long gone.

And you say "the fact remains," but it's very far from a fact.

It is most certainly a fact as almost every PDF I've downloaded to fill in is not able to be filled in.

And the enormous majority of people agree with me, not you.

Which means absolutely nothing. The vast majority of people vote for the wrong candidate in a government. The vast majority of people believe in a fictitious god.

Not if it has form fields. Perhaps you need a more flexible pdf
reader.

That's my point. The standard Adobe Reader, which is what Jo Public
has, doesn't let you edit most of them.

Yes, but Jo public won't have those.

Are you saying Joe Public are thick like you.
Joe Public usually have some knowledge and will find a solution to the
problem by doing a quick search and will find free programs such as the
above that will solve their problem without bleating about nothing
unlike you.

Thanks to this thread I learned something today. I learned that a PDF
does not need to be in the form structure to be able to fill in a form
in Adobe. You can fill in any PDF document using Comments Text, and
then printing the document (PDF or paper), to fix the text you entered
into the PDF document.

As for the above comment, not everybody has word processors capable of
opening RTF and DOC files. I use Word Perfect which can open MS word
files, I prefer the convenience of WordPerfect for my primary word
processor.

A person has bought MS Word, or installed one of the open sources word
processors, will e able to open a DOC or RTF file. But working with the
church I have come across many people who buy a computer and use the
word processor that came on the computer, it MS Works and the Mac
equivalent.

I still think that for use across all platforms, Windows, Links, Mac,
and whatever, you stand a better chance for the receiver to be able to
open the document if it is in the PDF format.

Sometimes works, sometimes they won't print or save so you can email it, sometimes it refuses point blank.

EVERYBODY can open RTF. Everybody with windows can open DOC (with Wordpad if you don't have Word).

A person has bought MS Word, or installed one of the open sources word
processors, will e able to open a DOC or RTF file. But working with the

Anybody using a Mac is unimportant and should be shot. Get Windows and be compatible with the majority.
