Quick Launch Bar
Thanks for taking the time to read my question.
I hope this is the correct forum to post this question. If not, please let me know the best place to post. Thanks. I have created a button for the qucik launch tool bar that opens my web browser to a web page. I'd like it to open in a new browser window. Right now it just opens in what ever browser window is open and then I lose the page I was on. What do I need to do to get the button to open a NEW browser window? I am assuming it nees to be a prefix of some sort before the url in the shortcut's target line. Thanks, Brad |

Hi
Try setting you Home Page in IE to 'blank' - then you should get a blank window where you can enter any URL you want. -- Will Denny MS-MVP Windows Shell/User Please reply to the News Groups "Brad" wrote in message news Thanks for taking the time to read my question. Depending on what web page you left determines where you will end up again
when you log back in. If you wish your browser to open at the same spot each time (say you use GOOGLE for example) go to the "GOOGLE home page" then go to "TOOLS" and then "INTERNET OPTIONS" (iand then GENERAL tab - it default to that) you will see that GOOGLE is there now in the "home page address" area , now click APPLY it should open there each time you click on your browser. Quick Launch Bar
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear, or am not understanding your solutions.
I have an IE quick launch button on my bar, but I've put another button there that opens a specific web page. I have my IE home page property set, but instead of opening IE, then going to favorites than clicking on the favorite I want, I want to use a button on my quick launch bar that opens straight to the specified web page I want. So instead of the button opening a program, it opens a specified web page Example Shortcut: url:http://piercedrockband.bravehost.com Shortcut key: None The problem is, my current button uses IE windows that are already open, and I need it to open in a new window. Thanks, "Brad" wrote: Thanks for taking the time to read my question. I hope this is the correct forum to post this question. If not, please let me know the best place to post. Thanks. Quick Launch Bar
Hi Brad,
Go to ToolsInternet OptionsAdvanced tab. Under the Browsing section, scroll to locate and uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts", Apply, OK. Now see if your QuickLaunch shortcut opens in a new browser window. Or just create a shortcut by right clicking on the page you want to get to
quickly....not sure you can put a "shortcut" in the qucik launch though.... Quick Launch Bar
Hi
The icons in the Quick Launch Bar are shortcuts to various programs. It's handier than having to use the Desktop every time a different program is needed. -- Will Denny MS-MVP Windows Shell/User Please reply to the News Groups "fergie123" wrote in message ... Shortcuts are normally the *only* things you find in the Quick Launch Bar. By the way, the *easiest* way to create a shortcut to a web page is to drag the little icon at the left end of the address bar (just before the URL) to the desktop, Quick Launch Bar, or wherever you want it. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup "Will Denny" wrote: Hi Try setting you Home Page in IE to 'blank' - then you should get a blank window where you can enter any URL you want. -- Will Denny MS-MVP Windows Shell/User Please reply to the News Groups "Brad" wrote in message news Thanks for taking the time to read my question.
