Default Playing mp4 files.

I captured some videos with Nero 7 which does so only in mp4 format. But WMP
11 does not recognize the file format as a Media file. I thought Microsoft's
wmv format itself was mpeg-4 and WMP 11 plays wmv files. Is mp4 different
from wmv format?

But if I ask WMP to open all the files in the folder, it opens the mp4 file
and even plays it. So why does WMP not recognize it as a Media File right
in the beginning?

Right click one of your video file, from the menu, select Open With Choose
Program.

Choose Windows Media Player

Once you make your selection, be sure to check the box that says- "Always
use the selected program to open this kind of file".

You can also right click a video and choose Properties Change Button,
choose Wndows Media Player and click OK Apply OK.

When you double click MP4 files WMPwill open and play.

You're top - posting.
This isn't a Vista group.
You've crossposted from another group.
It is best to stick with the original thread wherever it is.
Meanwhile learn to use the web -
In google type: mp4 codec vista
You will get all your answers on first page of results.
Alternatively download this excellent free conversion tool:
