Default Problem with feeds sychronization

I have recently had to do a repair installation of Win XP. Everything is
working well except I keep getting an error message that says: Microsoft
feeds synchronization has encountered a problem and needs to close. I get
this message about every 5 or 10 minutes. It is not really a problem it is
just annoying. Can anyone out there tell me how to stop getting the error
message. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried turning off feed sync? Tools Internet Options Content
Feeds settings. Uncheck 'Automatically check feeds for updates' and see if
that stops the message.
Do you have a constant live connection to the internet, such as cable or
DSL? What version IE are you using? You may have to do all your updates
again since the repair install probably rolled back some of your IE files.

I also did a repair on Windows XP home edition Cd.
I use Mozilla Firefox and cant even find IE on my lists of programs. Is
there a place in Firefox that I can turn off the RSS feeds? Is the Internet
Explorer program imbedded in Service Pack 2 ? Should I try the repair again?
I have a cable connection. Also none of my Microsoft buttons will work. I
have to copy & paste all their URLs,
