Default EFS, encryption and offline files

Hopefully someone can help me understand this situation. Currently
implementing efs, encryption and offline files for laptop users. Everything
is perfect when people are connected to the LAN. In offline folder settings I
also have enabled to encrypt offline files. However when users are offline
and have access to their files they can never encrypt new files/folders. Its
bad enough that they can't see if the other files are encrypted (this is by
design according to microsoft)

This kind of encryption is supposed to be transparent to the user. It
should be encrypting locally when stored, and decrypting - transferring
(also probably encrypted during transfer) - and storing on the server
(and encrypted locally *there*) when synchronizing.

oh, so when the user is offline and creates a new file, even though they
can't right click and encrypt or go to propoerties and do it..it will
automatically encrypt when synced up?...hmm. I will test that out.

thanks
