Just try the usb install 1st if it doesn't work use the Cd; I think there will be a prompt for either clean/fresh install or "update". It's been a long ago....but the version of usb is not the problem.

It's been a long ago....but the version of usb is not the problem. I don't think that's the OP's issue. He has a PC with x86 version of windows running. He wants to clean install the x64 version. Meaning he will format the drive and load a new system. So the X86 version has nothing to do with this. His real issue is the x64 copy on the thumb won't boot. As Good Guy stumbled onto, he might not have a 64 bit machine to boot that thumb drive (that might be a great drive). Al
