error 80070005
Media Player snag.
I am using Media Player 8.00.00.4487, Product ID 55274-OEM- 0015915-64863. This is running on a 2GHz Athlon machine, OS WinXP Pro. All the windows updates have been incorporated, with the exception of Media Player 9 (I don't like it.) On attempting to open some files in my "Shared Music" folder, which I have been able to open previously and when logged on as an Admnistrator, an "Access is denied" message appears. On selecting "Details, the following message appears in its own window: The file is in use This file is currently in use. Close the file, and then try to perform the desired action again. Error ID = 0x80070005, Remedy ID = 0x00000000 The file is not in use by any other program and trying again doesn't help. On looking at file properties, the "General" and "Summary" pages appear correct, but when selecting "Security", the following message appears: "You do not have permission to view the current permission settings for %Filename%, but you can make permission changes". Within the "Shared Music" folder, there are sub-folders. Some of these can be accessed, but on others the following message appears, when double-clicked: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Shared Music\%Folder name% is not accessible. Access is denied" When the cursor passes over these folders, the small yellow box appears, saying "Folder is Empty". On trying to delete the folder, the usual prompt asking "Are you sure that you want to send the folder and its contents to the recycle bin?" appears. On selecting "Yes" another window pops up, entitled Error Deleting File or Folder. This says, after the red cross "Cannot delete %Folder name%: The directory is not empty. Microsoft Knowledge base article 234292 suggests that the filename is being spelled incorrectly. This cannot be the case as attempts to open the file are being made by double- clicking on it. To contact me quickly, can be used. |
