I'm in a smaller town (about 14K population) and do have broadband now (cable). I do remember the years when it was available only in the more seriously overpopulated areas. I got tired of hearing people saying "just get broadband". BTW, the first broadband available here was Starband satellite (around 2001). It was only a little better than POTS, and became much worse and then useless. I went back to the 48k dialup and that was a big improvement. LTE is available here now, and possibly DSL from Frontier. -- Mark Lloyd http://notstupid.us/ "WARNING: Giving up religion now greatly increases humanity's chances for survival." |

But long stretches of the movie had no dialogue at all, which I think is one reason the reviewer didn't understand the movie. Nobody was explaining it to him. Have a good day, There were also a lot of breathing sounds (what you'd expect to hear in a spacesuit). BTW, I saw that movie in a theater when it was new. I remember a scene near the beginning where the apes were sitting around, and there was a message at the bottom of the screen saying "our forefathers". People in the theater seemed to think that was funny. I've seen 2001 several times after that, and the message was missing. (catching up on old posts, here!!) In 1983 or 84, I paid $75 (a sizable crunch of my weekly pay) or so for a Beta (yes, Beta!!) Video of "2001, A Space Odyssey". That tape probably would have been viewed two or three times a year until the Beta Player finally died in 2004. Fortunately, before that I had brought a DVD of the film, which I still have and still watch about twice a year! (so much other stuff to watch!!) Some of the Classic Revival type Cinemas still show it, usually, late on a Friday! Daniel |

I've never seen it in a cinema, but I'm told that for example the detail of the space-station (cartwheel shape) is amazing. I think it might have been one of the first films to be made in 70mm.
