Ken,

That link gives me a perfectly normal first few lines, sharp opening
brackets and all. So, it looks like is actually located related to
your browser.

What you could try is to see if disabeling all your plugins (under
tools-plugins) solves anything. If so enabeling them one-by-one may
lead you to the offending plugin

Hope that helps,
Rudy Wieser

I tried your suggestion and disabled

Status-4-Evar

(their spelling, not mine) and the next couple of refreshes showed no
code. Of course I've thought I had it fixed before but was mistaken.
We'll see if this one sticks. BTW, I have no idea where this add-on came
from; I didn't knowingly install it. I'm using Kasperski virus protection
which evidently permitted it to be installed.

If it matters, my Firefox is version 49-0-1. It upgrades itself.

As I feared, code is back. Wonder why it appears and disappears as it
does?

Ken,

As I feared, code is back.

Re-check your plugins. If that "Evar" thing is back (I take it you left it
disabled) you could be dealing with malware.

Wonder why it appears and disappears as it does?

Good question. I could give you the absolutily-true-but-not-helpfull talk
about that *something* is removing those "" brackets, but the truth is that
I do not know. It *might* be a bad plugin, but it might also be your
browser itself malfunctioning. It might even be something else altogether.
Heck, it could even be the AV you're running (if you're running any).

The only thing you can do is to minimize the ammount of changes in regard to
your browser (ultimatily even trying to clean up FF by de-installing and
re-installing again), and see if that changes anything.

Regards,
Rudy Wieser
